AMAZING TEACHER NEEDED! KS2 Post at Herne Junior School

Appointment for September 1st 2020

We would love to appoint an inspirational and dynamic full-time Qualified Teacher from September 1st 2020.  This would be on a one-year fixed-term contract but could be made permanent for the right candidate. You would be working with our dedicated, forward-moving school in a year team of at least four other teachers. All class sizes are predicted to be approximately 30 or below. This post is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, confident and fun-loving teacher who isn’t afraid of hard work. We warmly welcome NQTs to apply for this post.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have an unconditional positive regard for children.
  • Have high expectations of achievement and behaviour with proven success in pupil progress.
  • Have the ability to guide, motivate and build on strengths in personalised learning having regard to each child’s specific needs.
  • Be committed to working in partnership with children, staff, parents, governors and the wider community.
  • Be a positive individual who seeks solutions to the challenges we face and is prepared to work in a strong team where personal well-being really does matter.
  • Have enthusiasm, energy and a willingness to be involved in all aspects of school life and be willing to learn more and cope with the ridiculous things successive governments throw at us!

Your appointment will be invaluable in realising our future exciting developments, especially as our results are consistently above national and local authority averages.  Our vulnerable pupils perform particularly well, showing a six-year trend of 60% or more gaining ARE in all subjects combined. Our Ofsted report in 2017 graded us as GOOD.

Even during Lockdown, we have replaced our Hall lighting, sound system, refurbished all of our cloakrooms, replaced and upgraded our whole-school WiFi and replaced furniture in many classrooms.  Check out our website under the ‘Children’ tab, where you can see the huge amount of work our staff have been putting in to support our children with Home-Learning.  Like many schools, we have remained open for Critical Workers throughout Lockdown because we are massively committed to our community.

We are a school where the development of children in their broadest sense really does come first. Our children are a delight to teach and will be looking forward to being with someone who loves working with them and making their learning fun!

You will receive full support from our welcoming and friendly staff and will have plenty of CPD opportunities, including peer coaching. We have many years of experience supporting NQTs and we are part of a teaching school alliance, supporting, nurturing and training SCITT students over the last two years.

Applications are invited from candidates who are committed to getting the very best out of the children and themselves. We are an ambitious school and there are amazing projects to come.  Why not come and join us to make this happen?

Please come and share your ideas with us and tell us all about how you can make a difference for the children at our school.

Visits to the school can be arranged, where social distancing protocols will be adhered to. If you would like to look around the school, we will do our utmost to ensure both parties are kept safe and will provide guidance about what you will need to do if you are interested in a visit.

Alternatively, during the day, contact staff on duty in our friendly office on 01730 263746 or email

Interviews will be conducted remotely on Friday 22nd May.

Closing Date: Wednesday May 20th 2020 5pm.
